Webb Structural Services is a structural engineering consulting and design firm founded on the principal that any structural design is a fluid process, requiring a thorough and creative team-based approach in order to incorporate the needs of the owner, the architect, and the contractor, to yield a cost effective, elegant, and constructible solution.
We believe an engineering solution involves more than understanding load path, beam sizes, and creating framing plans. Appropriate structural solutions can make or break a project. Whether it is a creative solution that enables an architect’s vision to come to life or a cost effective solution to enable an owner’s vision to be realized, with each project we strive to understand and align the unique needs and wishes of all parties involved. A structural engineer on a project is often times relied upon to be a liaison of sorts between the architect, contractor, and owner. Webb Structural Services embraces this role, and we rely on our past experience to help ensure that all parties understand how a given structural solution impacts the overall project goals.
We pride ourselves on keeping current with the latest building trends and technology while incorporating the time honored concepts of building construction and renovation. We search for the right engineering solution given a project’s specific set of circumstances. This starts with understanding the project scope, the architect’s or designer’s vision of the final product, the owner’s expectation of work scope as it relates to budget, and finally, the strengths of the contractors performing the work. For renovation work, it is equally important to gain a full understanding of existing conditions so that the final design can integrate with the existing structure in a cohesive and complementary manner.
Webb Structural Services' integral project involvement does not end with the completion of the construction documents. We enjoy seeing our design constructed; we consider this a valuable phase in the engineering process, just as important as the design phase. As construction commences, we make every effort to ensure that we have an open dialogue with the construction team. We appreciate the scheduling importance after construction has begun and endeavor to respond to field issues in a timely manner.
